This is an alternative procedure for cervical laminectomy with advantages

• Greater range of motion of neck
• Reduced formation of postlaminectomy membrane
• Reduced chances of post-laminectomy kyphosis.

This is indicated in patients with

• Multilevel symptomatic compressive cervical myelopathy

With minimal neck pain, moderate stenosis, younger patients with jobs requiring greater neck movements.
